The Eliminator MTB Festival

Hooray, it’s that time again Muckers!

Every two years we take over Parkhill Farm in Newburgh and send the livestock packing for a few weeks so Farmer Roger can remove the fences.  We then proceed to transform the Barley fields, hills and forests into a stunning mountain bike race venue.  Prepare to be blown-away by a weekend of electrifying Head2Head MTB racing, live music and festival shenanigans as The Eliminator returns for 2017!

Our favourite mad-cap mountain bike event is back as a two-day Mountain Bike Festival, along the lines of the awesome Cream o’ the Croft, and promises to be bigger, better and as always, completely bonkers!

Previously described by Enduro Mountainbike Magazine as ‘Delightfully Unique and Riotous Fun’, the main focus of The Eliminator will once again be the spectacular Eliminator Head2Head MTB Race – an uplifted downhill race with a difference.  Mountain Bikers from across the board including Weekend Warriors, Cross Country, Enduro and Downhill Racers will compete in a series of head to head races on a super-fun dual downhill track.  Seriously, this is the nearest most of us mere mortals will get to riding in a World Cup, the electric atmosphere and super-fun track have to be experienced to be believed.

The Venue

The track is suitable for any type of bike and rider and there are some pedally bits which will suit the Whippets on 29ers but there will also be some big old jump lines for the air-meisters to do some show-boating and gain back some time.  It’s anyone’s guess who will reach the finish line first after tackling the “Crazy Crops” dual-slalom through a ripened barley field so place your bets please!

After a few practice and qualifying runs to get your eye in, it’s straight into the Elimination heats.  If a rider loses an elimination heat, they are then relegated to a second tier where they have the chance to race again against different opponents, if they lose a second race however, they are eliminated from the main tournament and relegated to compete in the Barley Dual Slalom tournament.

Another new and exciting addition to the festival this year is an invitation-only XC Eliminator which will take place on the Friday evening.  The tournament will see a selection of club riders from across the country battle it out in a series of elimination races on a short, action-packed Cross Country circuit that circles the event village.  It promises to be a huge hit with a buzzing festival crowd in full Friday night party mode!

What to expect

Apart from super-exciting MTB racing what else can you look forward to?  How about; Live Music, Family-friendly Camping and Glamping, Fife Farmer’s Market, Kid’s Bike Camps, The Funky Mountain, Local Craft Ale Festival, Trade Village, Giant Water Slide, Women’s MTB Coaching, Locally-sourced Food and Drink, Pedal-Powered Contraptions, Kid’s Story-Telling Sessions, Silent Disco, Climbing Wall, Kid’s Bike Races, Face-Painting, Activities Workshops, Soft-Play Activities, Mobile Bike-Track and Silly Adult Bike Races.  Oh yes, The Eliminator is back with a vengeance!
